Position Overview:

We are looking for a **qualified Sign Language Interpreter** to provide essential communication support for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. This role is crucial in ensuring that all students have equal access to educational opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver interpretation services in various educational environments for students with hearing impairments.
  • Assist in classroom interactions, promoting effective communication among students, educators, and staff.
  • Encourage the academic and social growth of students by creating an inclusive atmosphere.
  • Work collaboratively with educators to adapt instructional materials as needed.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of an accredited interpreter training program is highly desirable.
Essential Duties:
  • Interpret classroom lessons, discussions, and related activities.
  • Facilitate communication between deaf or hard of hearing students and their peers, teachers, and other educational personnel.
  • Uphold confidentiality and adhere to the ethical standards set for educational interpreters.
  • Engage in meetings to discuss and evaluate students' progress and needs.
  • Assist in the execution of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students requiring interpretation services.
Certifications:
  • A valid certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or an equivalent certification is preferred.
