Key Responsibilities:- Deliver interpretation services in various educational environments for students with hearing impairments.
- Assist in classroom interactions, promoting effective communication among students, educators, and staff.
- Encourage the academic and social growth of students by creating an inclusive atmosphere.
- Work collaboratively with educators to adapt instructional materials as needed.
- Advocate for the rights and needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Completion of an accredited interpreter training program is highly desirable.
- Interpret classroom lessons, discussions, and related activities.
- Facilitate communication between deaf or hard of hearing students and their peers, teachers, and other educational personnel.
- Uphold confidentiality and adhere to the ethical standards set for educational interpreters.
- Engage in meetings to discuss and evaluate students' progress and needs.
- Assist in the execution of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students requiring interpretation services.
- A valid certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or an equivalent certification is preferred.
