Job Summary

The Rehabilitation Technician will support the Director of Rehabilitation in managing the rehabilitation department at the assigned Avamere facilities. This role is responsible for assisting with quality patient care, rehab caseload management, therapy staffing, and day-to-day activities in the rehabilitation department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule evaluations for patients with physician orders and assist with obtaining physician orders as directed by the Director of Rehabilitation.
  • Collaborate with nursing and admissions departments to determine the status of newly admitted and to-be-admitted patients in planning for therapy evaluations and care.
  • Coordinate treatment schedules to achieve associated time/day requirements to provide patient-centered quality care.
  • Monitor new and existing patient schedules for daily/weekly time variance and implement variance control strategies to meet rehabilitation allocation.
  • Coordinate schedules to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency of self and staff.
  • Develop economical indirect time management strategies to efficiently cover requirements for patient care planning and other facility-based meetings.
  • Attend in-service meetings and facility meetings as required.
  • Provide overall general department management, including equipment and supplies management, clinical and billing documentation compliance, rehabilitation care compliance, quality assurance, and daily staffing management.
  • Communicate and interact with facility personnel to ensure continued satisfaction with delivery of care.
  • Provide other clerical support tasks, including filing, managing records and reports, answering phones, taking messages, faxing, and photocopying.
  • Answer department telephone, respond to incoming telephone calls, transfer calls to appropriate personnel, and respond timely and appropriately to phone requests and inquiries.
  • Maintain positive relationships and rapport with coworkers and collaborate with other departments, including Nursing, Admissions, Business Office, Medical Records, Social Services, HR, and front desk.
  • Report to work on time and maintain regular attendance.
  • Ability to effectively adjust workflow to meet rehabilitation program needs.
  • Adhere to established confidentiality standards per HIPAA.
  • Track EOM closeouts to clear off all pending documents that might result in hindrance for the closeout for the month.
  • Monitor the discharge plan for the patient and set the last DC date once the DC date is confirmed. End the patient case once the discharges are completed by the therapists.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area and adhere to facility/company safety standards, including compliance with all Infection Control, Universal Precautions, and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or graduate equivalency degree.
  • In good standing with all regulatory agencies and licensing boards as applicable.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • General office experience is preferred.
  • Full knowledge of resident's rights.
  • Exudes professionalism in presentation.
