  • Adhere to all policies and procedures established by Hutchinson Community College.

Additional Duties:

  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Safety Academy Coordinator.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of OSHA and MSHA Instructor Certifications or the ability to obtain them.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in the mining sector is preferred.
  • Five years of experience in safety within general industry or construction is preferred.
  • Ability to instruct on a variety of safety topics, including OSHA regulations, health, accident prevention, and electrical safety.
  • Experience in teaching adult learners in a college or workshop environment is preferred.
  • A college degree or relevant certification in health and safety training is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel 3-5 days per week, including overnight stays.
  • A valid Kansas driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
  • First-aid/CPR training is preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is preferred.
  • Physical requirements may include lifting training equipment, standing, bending, and demonstrating safety procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are essential.
  • Ability to work under challenging conditions with appropriate safety measures.
  • Must meet physical and mental qualifications with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Qualifications listed serve as guidelines; alternative qualifications may be considered.

Compensation and Employment Status:

The salary for this position is based on qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration. This is a 12-month administrative position that is eligible for benefits, at-will, and exempt from overtime. Annual contract renewal is contingent upon continued grant funding.
