About the Role:

The State of Oregon is seeking a highly skilled Forest Management Technician to join our team. As a key member of our natural resource management team, you will play a critical role in assisting the USFS and BLM in achieving their management goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in timber sale planning, pre-commercial thinning, piling, prescribed burning, and brushing roads.
  • Implement all-lands, cross-boundary work to achieve forest restoration on a landscape scale.
  • Perform fire suppression duties as needed.

Requirements:

  • Eighteen months of experience working in the field of natural resources and/or reforestation.
  • Associate Degree in Forestry, Forest Engineering, Forest Recreation, Fire Protection, or a related natural resource field of study.
  • OR
    An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Forestry practices, techniques, and methods.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with others.
  • Ability to operate basic computer programs.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps.
  • Ability to use basic forestry tools and instruments.
  • Ability to keep accurate and detailed records and reports.

Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work on steep, rugged terrain in adverse weather conditions.
