Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pharmacist to join our team at Spaulding Hospital Cape Cod. As an integral member of our patient care team, you will be responsible for the preparation and dispensation of all medication, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other pharmacy personnel to deliver safe and optimal drug therapy and to maximize positive patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Medication Management: Prepare, compound, and dispense medications to patients according to laws and regulations of the Board of Registration in Pharmacy, the Department of Public Health, the Food and Drug Administration, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Monitor and maintain documentation for all areas related to drug preparation and delivery, order entry, investigational medicine protocols, equipment management, adverse events, and drug inventory per established department guidelines.
  • Consultation and Education: Provide consultation to the interdisciplinary team in the evaluation of current and recommended drug/treatment therapies to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Teach and provide drug-related information to caregivers to facilitate understanding and increase the likelihood of efficient care and safe outcomes.
  • Patient Care: Update and maintain patient medication profiles to contain appropriate clinical information. Collaborate with retail pharmacists to make pre-discharge arrangements for patients to obtain difficult-to-get medications and discuss unique SRN formulations of medications.
  • Team Supervision and Development: Supervise pharmacy team members to verify accuracy of work before dispensing of medications. Orient, train, and evaluate team members per department and organization guidelines.
  • Equipment and Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain equipment and drug inventory management in the pharmacy and patient care areas per department standards.
  • Quality and Compliance: Uphold the PCC Organizational Values of Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence. Ensure compliance with laws and regulations governing pharmacists and the practice of pharmacy.
Requirements
  • Education and Degree: Current, valid license registered to practice by the Massachusetts State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Experience: Level II pharmacist requires three to five years of experience as a Level I Pharmacist. Experience in hospital pharmacy is preferred.
  • Skills: Safely execute all job responsibilities without risking injury to self or patients. Demonstrates the ability to assess and interact with patients and families using the theories of human growth and development, family systems, and cultural background. Computer proficiency required. Microsoft Office applications preferred with the ability to learn new software.
