Are you seeking a rewarding position that offers FLEXIBILITY and TIME for family as well as outdoor pursuits in the Ozark mountains? Our Springfield-based practice is eager to expand our team of 4 neonatologists and 6 NNPs by welcoming an additional BC/BE neonatologist. This practice provides a unique chance to work in a supportive environment while caring for a select number of critically ill or extremely premature infants.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 3 years of experience, have a preference for a private practice model that adheres to evidence-based medicine, and be a collaborative team member who enjoys a positive work atmosphere. Leadership opportunities are available, particularly in areas such as POCUS or resuscitation, and we encourage candidates to cultivate expertise in their specific interests to share with the team. We are open to both part-time and full-time arrangements for the right candidate.

Neonatologist Work Schedule

· Approximately 6-7 shifts per month as the primary neonatologist providing routine daytime care (IN HOUSE typically from 8 am to 5 pm) with AT-HOME call and backup for 24/7 IN-HOUSE NNP coverage for the remainder of the 24-hour shift.

o Average daily census of 25, divided between 1-2 neonatologists and 1-2 NNPs.

o Average of 34 admissions monthly, including 2-3 infants born under 1500 grams.

· Approximately 6-7 shifts per month as a backup neonatologist providing routine daytime care for about 5-8 Level II infants (IN HOUSE for approximately 3-5 hours per day).

· Attend very high-risk deliveries (under 27 weeks, major anomalies, etc.).

· Deliver comprehensive AAP Level III care (no ECMO, no cardiac surgery).

o High-frequency ventilation.

o Inhaled nitric oxide.

o Total body cooling with 24-hour video EEG.

o Bedside ultrasound machine.

o Donor milk with in-unit milk technology preparation.

NICU Environment

· State-of-the-art, 46-bed Level-III single patient room NICU.

· Skilled NNPs provide 24-hour, in-house coverage.

· Procedural nursing team that attends high-risk deliveries and offers NICU transport services.

· NICU-dedicated specialists in SLP, PT, OT, RT, and pharmacy available 7 days a week.

· EPIC and Baby Steps Cloud EMRs.

· Pediatric sub-specialists provide coverage in-person or via telehealth.

· Highly-trained and engaged nursing staff.

Located in the picturesque southwest Missouri, Springfield is the third largest city in the state. The area boasts a cost of living that is 13% below the national average, with housing costs being 25% lower. Springfield is a vibrant college town with numerous educational institutions, shopping, museums, restaurants, theaters, parks, and recreational activities.

This position is at a facility located in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPS) or Medically Underserved Area/Population (MUA/MUP).
