Salary: $27.10 per hour

Qualifications for Aircraft Mechanic Helper

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • At least one (1) year of experience in aircraft-related mechanical work, or currently enrolled in an Aviation Technical School program, or possess relevant certifications or degrees.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools, including pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, and various measuring instruments.
  • Ability to work independently with mechanic's tools.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Basic computer skills, including internet usage and document preparation.
  • Physical capability to perform tasks that involve lifting, bending, and working in various positions for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and use ladders and scaffolding.
  • Must be able to lift items up to 40 pounds and seek assistance for heavier loads.
  • Familiarity with using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for hazardous materials.

Responsibilities of the Aircraft Mechanic Helper

The Aircraft Mechanic Helper will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Assisting Aircraft Mechanics with the servicing, repair, and overhaul of aircraft and engines.
  • Replacing and adjusting components such as control cables, fuel tanks, and batteries.
  • Utilizing mechanic's tools to remove and replace inspection plates and covers for maintenance access.
  • Assisting in the towing and positioning of aircraft.
  • Disconnecting various systems, including instruments and fuel lines.
  • Helping in the disassembly and repair of engines and aircraft structures.
  • Performing routine tasks such as providing materials and cleaning work areas.
  • Cleaning aircraft parts using appropriate solvents.
  • Inflating tires and servicing fuel and oil systems.
  • Documenting maintenance activities in accordance with quality assurance standards.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the work area.
  • Conducting regular inspections for Foreign Object Damage (FOD).
  • Adhering to safety protocols and reporting any safety concerns.
  • Utilizing government systems for accessing technical resources.
  • Providing excellent service to internal and external stakeholders.
