Senior Technician - Data Center Operations

Sira Consulting, an Inc 5000 company, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technician to join our Data Center Operations team. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to install, decommission, and repurpose IT equipment, providing technical hands-on support to users while delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Rack and stack network devices, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency
  • Cable patching and installation of patching cables between network equipment and end devices, maintaining a high level of precision and accuracy
  • Installation of power cables from equipment to power supply in rack, adhering to industry standards and best practices
  • Install/swap out, troubleshoot, and de-install devices, including computers, cables, boards, routers, switches, and other IT equipment
  • Physical layer troubleshooting and high-speed single mode optical connections, utilizing advanced technical tools and expertise
  • Equipment disposal activities and media destruction, ensuring secure and environmentally responsible practices
Requirements:
  • Requires appropriate equipment and training with high-speed fiber optic transport, with a strong understanding of optical networking principles
  • Ability to clean high-speed single mode optical connections and measure, transmit, and receive on high-speed optics, with a high level of precision and accuracy
  • Knowledge and experience to work safely with high-speed single mode long-range optical lasers, adhering to industry standards and best practices
  • Strong troubleshooting background and proficiency in utilizing technical tools, including BMC, cable testers, and fiber testers
  • Experience in working in data centers and understanding cable patching processes and procedures, with a strong attention to detail
  • Basic knowledge of data communications networking and ability to assist in troubleshooting issues, with a strong understanding of network terminology
  • Understanding of network terminology and willingness to work in an on-call situation, including nights and weekends, with a strong commitment to customer service
