About This Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Engineer to join our team at Southwest Research Institute. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for evaluating the quality and performance of conventional and new energy fuels and lubricants, including electrified vehicle applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor and train junior-level staff, leading programs and developing new solutions to meet client needs.
  • Exercise creativity in developing premier solutions for clients in government and industry, leveraging your expertise in fuel and lubricant testing.
  • Write technical reports, papers, and proposals, and prepare presentations for client meetings and conferences.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure client goals are met.
  • Perform fuel, lubricant, and other automotive testing, providing project leadership and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and staff, interacting with laboratory and support groups as needed.
  • Develop innovative solutions to project problems and expand laboratory capabilities.
  • Market SwRI services to current and prospective customers, promoting our expertise in fuel and lubricant testing.
  • Write and present technical papers as needed to further SwRI's mission.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive lubricant or fuel testing, with expertise in areas such as chassis dyno testing, fuel industry or blending, additives, combustion engine, electric vehicle, or hybrid electric vehicle.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to communicate complex technical information effectively.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
