Job Overview

As a key member of the compliance team, you will provide essential support for compliance advisory services and the oversight of various banking operations to ensure adherence to critical regulations set forth by the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) and its primary U.S. prudential regulators. This role focuses on Regulations W, O, and investment-related regulations across multiple business lines within the bank.

Key Responsibilities

(90%) Management and Oversight of Prudential Regulatory Compliance Programs:
  • Analyze and interpret essential regulations issued by RBC's primary U.S. prudential regulators, including the Federal Reserve's Regulation W, Regulation O, and investment-related regulations.
  • Assist in the creation and ongoing maintenance of a comprehensive inventory of key controls for compliance programs related to Prudential Regulations.
  • Support the execution of regular reviews of procedural documents in response to business, regulatory, and programmatic changes.
  • Track and monitor the timely review of new business initiatives.
  • Conduct impact assessments related to Prudential Regulations for new business activities.
  • Engage in change management processes related to Prudential Regulations.
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of internal controls and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Review and address compliance issues related to Prudential Regulations raised through the escalation process.
  • Assist in compliance monitoring reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Draft compliance monitoring reports and communicate objectives, methodologies, and results to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Support regulatory examinations and inquiries, including reviewing all regulatory requests and submitted documentation.
  • Participate in team meetings, prepare minutes, and track resulting action items.
(10%) Subject Matter Expert in Banking Regulations:
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including other compliance team members and legal experts, to monitor changes in Prudential Regulations and assist in preparing materials to help the Front Office understand the implications of these changes.
  • Assist in managing audit or compliance testing issues, including tracking, monitoring, and reporting on remediation progress.
