Job Summary

The Medical Director is a key physician leader at Grady Health System, responsible for overseeing population health programs and initiatives. This role requires a strong clinical background, leadership skills, and experience in population health management.

Responsibilities
  • Co-lead clinical programs and initiatives with the VP of Pop Health and the VP of Community Medicine
  • Provide oversight and direction for the clinical design, implementation, and support of a system-wide population health management program
  • Act as a change agent within the Grady provider community to promote value-based care and drive clinical outcome improvement
  • Provide direct clinical supervision to RNs, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), physicians, care coordinators, and/or other clinical or support staff
Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited school of medicine
  • Board certified in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Preventive Medicine
  • Qualify for and maintain membership per medical staff guidelines
  • Professional degree (e.g. MBA, MPH) preferred
  • Five (5) years practicing as a primary care physician in an outpatient healthcare setting
  • Five (5) years' experience with population health and associated experience in systems of care, managed care, care management, or medical policy development
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a safety-net facility
  • Prior clinical leadership or supervision experience
  • Experience developing and implementing new processes/programs
Requirements
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and knowledge
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively in multi-specialty medical groups
  • Excellent physician relations skills and previous experience in growing volume and managing quality improvement
  • Skills including strategy development, program evaluation, budget consideration, and execution of programs and services to achieve quality standards
  • Excellent understanding of clinical and technology trends related to the delivery of healthcare services
