The Role of the Registered Nurse
The Registered Nurse functions as a caregiver for a specific patient population, working to achieve desired outcomes. This position focuses on expanding knowledge and skills, providing effective direct care as part of the interdisciplinary team to a variety of complex patients. The Registered Nurse directs and oversees the care provided by other caregivers through delegation, validation, evaluation, and coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct patient care and coordinate unit activities among nursing peers, physicians, and support services.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of patients.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to achieve desired patient outcomes.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to other caregivers as needed.
Education and Experience
- NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
- AHA BLS/CPR certification is required within 60 days of hire.
- BSN in progress and/or willing to acquire within three (3) years of hire.
- Must have six (6) or more months of relevant nursing experience or be an active participant in Hackensack Meridian Health's Nurse Residency Program.
