Professional Staff Nurse

UPMC McKeesport is seeking a Casual Professional Staff Nurse to support the 4M General Surgery Unit. This role will work 3, 12-hour shifts in a 6-week timeframe, with one holiday per year required.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality patient care through the application of independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians, other healthcare providers, patients, and their families to achieve desired patient outcomes.
- Participate in clinical development and/or RN residency program for new hires.
- Seek opportunities to learn safe, accountable, and autonomous practice from more experienced nurses.
- Identify patient and family needs for education and provide basic education to support the episode of care.
- Communicate effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
- Participate in quality and innovation initiatives to improve patient satisfaction, safety, and clinical quality outcomes.
- Formulate a plan of care and daily goals that consider individual patient needs.
- Participate in shared governance and begin to serve as an engaged member of a team supporting colleagues in service to patients and families.
- Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Temporary Practice Permit (TPP).
- UPMC-approved national certification is preferred.
- NIH Certification will be required within 6 months of hire.
- CPR is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
- Act 33, 34, and 73 with renewal.
- BSN preferred.
- Completion of UPMC student nurse internship or student clinical transitions course at UPMC preferred.
