Job Summary

The Medical Assistant functions under the direction of the Physician, Clinical Lead, Clinical Nurse Supervisor, Nurse Supervisor, and/or Office Manager. This role requires a high level of patient care and attention to detail, with a focus on providing excellent patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist during treatments
  • Coordinate tests and follow-up care, and record treatment in the medical record
  • Assist with explaining patient instructions to the patient/family
  • Perform front office registration, laboratory testing, and radiology functions
  • Rotate among various clinical and non-clinical service areas
Diagnostic Imaging Duties
  • Perform radiographic and other diagnostic imaging procedures
  • Prepare and position patients for imaging procedures, ensuring proper techniques and radiation protection
  • Obtain optimum views as ordered by the physician
  • Process images and review for proper identification and quality control
Laboratory Duties
  • Start lab equipment daily and maintain daily logs and documentation
  • Perform laboratory tests according to orders and instructions
  • Draw blood samples from patients and perform Point of Care testing
  • Order and stock supplies weekly
Patient Liaison
  • Provide relationship-based patient-centered care that adapts to population-specific characteristics
  • Partner with patients and significant others to set and achieve care goals
Team Work and Collaboration
  • Coordinate delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care
  • Practice diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods
Professional Development and Initiative
  • Complete initial and ongoing professional competency assessments
  • Participate in activities such as value analysis to evaluate patient care products
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma and/or equivalent required
  • Graduate from an accredited medical assistant program preferred
  • Basic Life Support or BLS certification required
  • Current Medical Assistant credential required
