Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Lab Professional to join our team at Labcorp. As a Medical Lab Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Specimen Evaluation: Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Technical Procedures: Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Instrumentation: Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Problem Solving: Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Quality Control: Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Test Results: Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
  • Maintenance: Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Supply Management: Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
  • Specimen Processing: Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
  • Work Environment: Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Requirements:

  • Education: Associates' Degree in a life science or laboratory science/Medical Technology.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a clinical laboratory is preferred.
  • Certification: Must be ASCP certified as a Medical Lab Technician or equivalent.
  • Skills: Ability to work independently and within a team environment, proficient with computers, and familiarity with laboratory information systems.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.
  • Flexibility: Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.
