Job Title: PACU Manager

Mass General Brigham is seeking a highly skilled and experienced PACU Manager to join our team in Malden, Massachusetts.

About the Role:

The PACU Manager will be responsible for maximizing efficiency of patient flow, controlling the transfer of patients to and from the Operating Room/Procedural Areas to the PACU. This role will work in collaboration with the anesthesia floor leader, nursing management, and surgeons to determine the optimum utilization of the PACU department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and promote a team philosophy and interdisciplinary collaboration among staff to foster a continuum of care for the perioperative patient.
  • Establish effective communications with nursing management, anesthesia floor leader, surgeon, and hospital administration to ensure efficient utilization of the PACU department.
  • Monitor the accuracy of the Epic scheduling program and interact with Information Systems to ensure that the integrity of the system is maintained.
  • Implement and monitor adherence to personnel and departmental policies.
  • Establish and maintain an environment conducive to high morale and job satisfaction, fulfillment of staff goals, and delivery of optimum performance.
Requirements:
  • Graduated from an approved school of nursing; bachelor's degree required, MSN preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of patient flow and perianesthesia department operations.
  • Strong analytical and organizational abilities to make effective decisions in an expedient manner while maintaining high quality care standards.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, negotiate, and problem solve with physician staff over PACU bay assignments.
  • Ability to promote a customer-oriented philosophy among all staff within the area.
Working Conditions:

The Perianesthesia department is a stressful, high-volume and high-acuity patient care environment. Work is underground with no windows or exposure to natural light. There is a possible exposure to infectious diseases.
