Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Geologist to join our team at Burns & McDonnell. The successful candidate will assist on a variety of environmental-based tasks, including field sampling, investigations, and report writing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with field-related activities, including logging soils, air monitoring, and installation of groundwater monitoring wells.
  • Assess soil and groundwater data, develop sampling plans, and compile analytical results.
  • Contribute to proposal and report writing for environmental projects.
  • Coordinate and schedule subcontractors for field investigation activities and assist with site remediation planning.
  • Coordinate laboratory analysis for sample identification and evaluation.
  • Monitor field activities to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local permit requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or a related environmental field.
  • Prior internship and/or consulting experience, with hazardous site assessment experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of geological techniques, principles, and procedures.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to work methodically and critically.
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS, RockWare, and Adobe Illustrator.

This is a full-time position with 75% travel requirements. The successful candidate will be required to meet the company's vehicle driving privileges standards.
