Overview:
As a key member of our team, the Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our plasma donation facility. Reporting directly to the Plasma Center Manager, you will contribute to the overall success of our center while providing exceptional care to our donors.

Key Responsibilities:
Your primary duties will include:

  • Assessing donor eligibility through comprehensive medical history interviews and physical examinations.
  • Managing informed consent processes and educating donors on health risks, including AIDS education.
  • Conducting blood tests and interpreting results, including Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
  • Monitoring donor reactions during and after the donation process, adhering to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Responding to medical emergencies by following the Center Physician's standing orders and facilitating donor transport to emergency care when necessary.
  • Collaborating with the Center Physician and Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues.
  • Supporting employee health initiatives, including vaccination programs for Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu.
  • Managing employee incidents and coordinating with occupational health as needed.
  • Acting as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, assisting with community health investigations as directed.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, including completion of a recognized nursing program.
  • Current licensure as an LPN or LVN in the state of assignment.
  • Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED.
  • Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
  • Completion of FDA-approved training for Medical Support Specialists.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a clinical or hospital environment.
