We are seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to join our team at McLarty Automotive Group. As a Flat Rate Technician, you will be responsible for performing light maintenance and repairs on vehicles, including lube, oil, and filter changes, tire balancing and rotation, and cooling system flushing.
Key Responsibilities- Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
- Sell lubrication, safety inspection, and other related services to customers.
- Inspect vehicle fluid levels and replenish as necessary.
- Check tire pressure and add air if needed.
- Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
- Save and tag parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
- Examine assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
- Communicate with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
- Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
- Road test vehicles.
- Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
- Keep abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
- Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
- Ensure that customers' cars are kept clean and notify service advisor immediately of any changes to the vehicle's appearance or condition.
- Keep shop area neat and clean.
- Maintain and be accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals.
- Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
- Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Report any safety issues immediately to management.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Driver's License.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and is occasionally required to work in a moderate noise level environment.
