Laboratory Specialist

As a Medical Technologist with LifePoint Health, you will play a vital role in the diagnosis and monitoring of various disease states. You will be responsible for performing diagnostic testing on patient samples, following standardized procedures, and preparing samples for testing. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Performs diagnostic testing on patient samples to aid physicians in the diagnosis and/or monitoring of various disease states.
Follows standardized procedures and helps prepare samples for testing.
Collects samples and analyzes bodily fluids and substances for abnormalities.
Operates laboratory equipment in a high-quality, effective manner.
Analyzes test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits, and reports/documents results per organizational standards.
Performs automated tests using automated equipment.
Performs manual tests.
Runs tests and analyzes the results to accurately report the results.
Performs Quality Assurance to ensure accuracy of equipment.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a laboratory, chemical, biological or physical science - Required
Graduation from NAACLS-Accredited Program - Preferred
Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist Certification (ASCP or AMT) or State of Tennessee Medical Technologist Generalist - Required within 12 months of hire or transfer to position
One (1) year experience in a clinical laboratory as a technologist, hospital environment - Preferred
