Medical Laboratory Specialist

Job Summary:
As a Medical Technologist at LifePoint Health, you will play a vital role in the diagnosis and monitoring of various disease states. You will be responsible for performing diagnostic testing on patient samples, analyzing test results, and reporting/documenting results per organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Performs diagnostic testing on patient samples to aid physicians in diagnosis and/or monitoring of various disease states.
• Analyzes test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits, and reports/documents results per organizational standards.
• Operates laboratory equipment in a high-quality, effective manner.
• Performs automated tests using automated equipment.
• Performs manual tests.
• Runs tests and analyzes the results to accurately report the results.
• Performs Quality Assurance to ensure accuracy of equipment.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in a laboratory, chemical, biological or physical science - Required
• Graduation from NAACLS-Accredited Program - Preferred
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Licenses: Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist Certification (ASCP or AMT) or State of Tennessee Medical Technologist Generalist - Required within 12 months of hire or transfer to position
Preferred Qualifications:
• One (1) year experience in a clinical laboratory as a technologist, hospital environment - Preferred
