Position Overview:
We are seeking a qualified Registered Dietitian to contribute to our innovative initiatives within the Department of Population Health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute a robust Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) that adheres to established evidence-based practices.
- Conduct both individual and group counseling sessions to educate participants on DPP methodologies, focusing on lifestyle changes, nutrition, physical activity, and behavioral techniques.
- Create tailored dietary plans based on the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet, considering participants' health conditions and preferences.
- Advise participants on effective exercise strategies that promote safe and sustainable physical activity.
- Perform comprehensive assessments of participants' nutritional status and dietary habits to customize interventions.
- Develop individualized nutrition and lifestyle plans that align with DPP, DASH, and exercise guidelines.
- Utilize motivational interviewing and behavior change techniques to empower participants in making informed dietary choices and managing chronic health issues.
- Maintain precise and confidential records of participant progress, dietary plans, and adherence to DPP and DASH principles.
- Collaborate with the research team to incorporate nutrition-related outcomes into clinical trial data collection.
- Ensure compliance with ethical standards and regulations in dietary counseling and clinical trial practices.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Nutrition Sciences or a related field. Completion of a 1200-hour dietetic internship accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetic Education (CADE). Registered Dietitian (RD) credential and successful completion of the RD exam within the first six months of employment. Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist (CDN) must be obtained within one year of hire. Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in dietary counseling within a clinical setting. Knowledge of DPP principles and the ability to apply them effectively. Proficiency in creating personalized dietary and exercise plans aligned with the DASH diet. Familiarity with motivational interviewing techniques. Strong documentation skills for maintaining participant records. Advanced degrees in Dietetics or Nutrition are preferred. Experience in implementing DPP and counseling on DASH diets.
