Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Risk Management Professional to lead our Business Risk and Control Office (BRCO) Risk Control and Assessment (RCSA) team. As a BRCO RCSA Lead, you will play a critical role in guiding the business to identify and understand risk exposures and the controls needed to reduce risk and safeguard our customers and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Risk Identification
    • Govern, educate, and drive accountability for identifying and categorizing risks among Business Risk and Control Officers (BRCOs).
    • Apply knowledge of the business to ensure that BRCO colleagues capture relevant and meaningful risks.
    • Review internal and external environments to identify risks expected.
    • Credibly challenge BRCO colleagues on quality and completeness of risk identification approach and outputs.
    • Advise, oversee, and credibly challenge BRCO colleagues on appropriately monitoring for and identifying emerging risks.
    • Coordinate across BRCO divisions for identification and analysis of horizontal risk.
    • Document risks and controls according to enterprise standards.
  • Risk Assessment
    • Lead, facilitate, and drive execution of the risk assessment process within BRCO.
    • Establish and execute processes to evaluate the severity and likelihood of risks.
    • Drive engagement with Second Line of Defense (2LOD) throughout the risk assessment process.
    • Ensure BRCO adherence to common standards and methodologies for risk assessment.
    • Collaborate with BRCO colleagues to source data and complete analyses to support risk assessment outputs.
    • Credibly challenge BRCO colleagues on quality and completeness of their risk assessment approach and key outputs.
    • Develop and articulate a clear view of the highest priority risks within BRCO division.
    • Coordinate across BRCO divisions for assessment of horizontal risk.
    • Provide credible challenge within BRCO on identifying changes that trigger the change management process.
  • Inventory of Controls and Issue Management
    • Maintain current and accurate inventory of identified risks and related controls (living document); includes risk assessment, risk ratings, process documentation, etc.
    • Provide Issue Management oversight and ensure timely closure of identified issues.
  • Business Partnering
    • Partner and engage with relevant business partners at varying levels in the organization to develop and maintain a strong control environment through effective RCSA execution and related activities.
    • Drive a strong enterprise risk culture by fostering rigor and discipline focused on risk and compliance awareness, ethical business practices, transparency, and escalation.
    • Learn continuously about the line of business to strengthen subject matter expertise and provide more valuable application of risk identification and assessments.
    • Collaborate with and support other BRCO team members to ensure a robust and comprehensive implementation of 2LOD frameworks within BRCO.
    Requirements
    • Demonstrated knowledge of banking industry products, services, and workflows.
    • Strong familiarity with critical business processes and controls, as well as overall business needs and objectives, for the Line of Business.
    • Strong track record of driving timely and effective issue resolution in a financial services context.
    • Deep expertise and ability to educate colleagues on risk management, controls, and compliance concepts, frameworks, and policies.
    • Ability to establish authority, influence stakeholders, and productively debate issues at all levels.
    • Ability to build strong relationships and engage constructively in a proactive and transparent approach with cross-functional stakeholders.
    • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate, including ability to summarize and explain complex findings and issues to a wide range of audiences.
    • Ability to apply sound judgment and appropriately escalate concerns and issues.
    • Ability to demonstrate managerial courage and inspire colleagues across the organization to embrace change.
    • Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret large datasets from various sources.
    • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment.
