About the Role

Axient LLC is seeking a highly skilled System Safety Engineer to support our customer located at a secure facility. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the application and management of a System Safety Program for one or more weapon/combat systems in accordance with MIL-STD-882E and DA PAM.

Key Responsibilities
  • System Safety Program Management: Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of a System Safety Program to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • System Safety Assessments: Conduct system safety assessments and hazard analyses of hardware and software in various DoD weapon and combat systems, including missiles, rockets, radars, launchers, and communications.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and/or update Safety Assessment Reports, Hazard Analyses, and System Safety Risk Assessments to ensure accurate and timely documentation.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with Government and contractor engineers, technical and test agency personnel, and Safety Office representatives to review system safety-related documentation, test reports, test data, and theater incident data.
  • Contract Review and Input: Review and/or provide input to contract documents, such as Statements of Work and Performance Specifications, to ensure safety considerations are properly addressed.
Requirements
  • Education: Master of Science (MS) in Engineering, Science, Math, Management, Business, or related weapon system discipline.
  • Experience: 20 years of relative experience in system safety engineering, with a strong background in MIL-STD-882E and DA PAM.
  • Clearance: US Government SECRET security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical Expertise: Experience in developing input to contract documents, conducting and managing a System Safety Working Group (SSWG) or Safety Integrated Product Team (SIPT), and participating in safety reviews.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a team of system safety engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
