Job Overview

As an Apprentice Technician at L&S, you will collaborate with seasoned professionals to enhance your knowledge and experience in plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems, ensuring the efficient execution of all installations. Your responsibilities will include assisting superintendents in preparing homes for completion stages relevant to each trade. Furthermore, you will engage in an in-house development program designed to equip you with the skills necessary to perform all facets of each trade, paving the way for advancement to a Tri-Trade superintendent or service technician role as opportunities arise and competencies are demonstrated. The ideal candidate will be motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in a dynamic industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the assigned superintendent in preparing for trade stage completions.
  • Transport materials to various job sites as needed.
  • Execute punch list tasks as directed by the superintendent.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to comprehend plumbing, electrical, and HVAC installations and layouts.
  • Conduct thorough walkthroughs at the end of each stage to evaluate installation accuracy and compliance with standards, generating an initial status list for superintendents.
  • Identify common issues with trade stage installations and communicate with the superintendent or make necessary adjustments and repairs.
  • Stay informed about relevant codes, regulations, and requirements specific to each neighborhood or municipality.
  • Actively monitor and respond to electronic communications.
  • Fully engage in the development program.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a plumbing, electrical, or HVAC helper in residential new construction is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Possession of a reliable vehicle for work purposes—preferably a van or truck.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities and a proven capacity to work independently.
  • Willingness to grow and openness to constructive feedback.
  • Capability to meet the physical demands of the role, including working in various indoor and outdoor conditions with extreme temperature variations, climbing ladders, and lifting heavy objects exceeding 50 pounds.
