We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Informatics Specialist to join our team at Northeast Georgia Health System, Inc. This is a key role that will provide intermediate-level support for multi-user clinical operating systems, hardware, and software tools.
Key Responsibilities- Provide advanced technical support for clinical applications, including installation, configuration, maintenance, training, and troubleshooting.
- Facilitate the assessment of current practice and translate end-user needs into optimal system configurations and builds.
- Collaborate with system users, technical staff, and vendors to resolve issues related to clinical information systems.
- Coordinate the planning, design, development, training, implementation, communication, maintenance, and evaluation of clinical information systems.
- Research, plan, install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade operating systems and application software and hardware.
- Stay up-to-date with current clinical information systems, associated workflows, and relationships to other systems within the organization.
- Participate in the development and execution of a standardized methodology for testing major system functions.
- Develop and maintain support materials related to system implementations and maintenance.
- Review and collaborate on user requests for changes, enhancements, additions, etc. to ensure feasibility, quality, and appropriateness for the system involved.
- Participate in the process of planning new systems or re-engineering, working collaboratively across the organization and multiple departments to support clinical practice and ensure development, evaluation, and ongoing support for the EMR.
- Serve as a Clinical ITS Liaison support to assigned clinical departments, working with system analysts and department leaders to facilitate a strong partnership between Information Technology and the user community.
- Actively work to develop understanding of customer/department operations, systems, and processes, assessing current practice and translating end-user needs into optimal system configurations and builds.
- Facilitate reporting of information from source systems using the most appropriate tools.
- Create and maintain up-to-date training materials for the systems as appropriate or work with system educators to do so.
- Conduct or participate in training classes when appropriate.
- Participate in department and NGHS teams, committees, projects, and initiatives as appropriate to support achievement of department and organizational goals.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of a quality improvement program for clinical information systems, proactively supporting efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services.
- Monitor, report, and collaborate with various departments to identify areas for improvement and work with staff and physicians to optimize the usage of clinical systems.
- Maintain professional skills and stay informed of changes in the healthcare industry/ regulations and vendor technology and the impacts on assigned systems.
- Develop, implement, and adhere to policies, procedures, and standards to meet all regulatory requirements such as HIPAA, as well as currently accepted legal standards.
- Provide on-call support to end-users and the ITS department and serve as a resource to other team members in areas of expertise.
- A minimum of five (5) years of IT application or related operational experience.
- Associates Degree or Technical Degree; in lieu of degree, will consider individuals with extensive IT or Operations experience.
- Preferred: Bachelors Degree, specific IT application certifications, and experience.
