Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Neuro Radiographer to support the expanding technology needs of complex Neurosurgery and Neurologic diagnostic and intervention procedures in the Neuro lab and hybrid Surgical suite. The ideal candidate will be hands-on with multiple imaging and navigation systems, including Brain Lab, Stealth, Fusion, Vision Sense, and VTI, used to guide surgeons in complex head and spine procedures.

This clinical/technical position will be responsible for assessing technology needs for the day, ensuring equipment readiness, and proactively managing schedules. The technologist will also perform pre-procedure activities, such as pulling or loading images into systems, and intra-procedural activities, including operating specialized equipment and troubleshooting technical issues.

Responsibilities

  • Operate radiology equipment using proper techniques and patient positioning to produce high-quality images.
  • Maintain radiology equipment and troubleshoot service problems, making necessary service calls and communicating any issues to incoming staff.
  • Greets patients, identifies self, and interacts with patients to gain trust and ensure patient support. Explains procedures to patients prior to exams.
  • Performs procedures consistent with section protocols, monitors patient status, tolerance, well-being, and safety throughout and after procedures.
  • Verifies patient identity prior to exams and ensures preparation of rooms for procedures prior to patient arrival.
  • Aids radiologists, doctors, and other UPHS team members in completing procedures according to applicable protocols.
  • Responds to emergency situations according to department/hospital policies.
  • Ensures patient safety using binders and safety aides at all times.
  • Performs quality assurance testing consistent with section protocols.
  • Operates ancillary equipment needed to perform examinations and take care of patients' needs.
  • Stays current with new technology and procedures consistent with section protocols.
  • Supports neurosurgery and ENT operating room cases that utilize Stealth and Brain Lab Systems, Fusion, Vision Sense, and VTI.
  • Set up neuro/oto cases by loading and merging images in multiple systems and pre-use checking of all imaging equipment.
  • Intraoperatively, performs registration routines (computerized mapping of surgical sites) and merges mapping with previous scans to complete imaging plans.
  • Saves and maintains the repository for Stealth scans, downloads and maintains a database of videos and images from the microscope, O-arm, and multiple navigation systems, and edits images/videos as needed.
  • Performs post-processing for all angio/interventional procedures and maintains appropriate data storage.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and assist surgeons with technical issues related to systems and cases.
Requirements

0-2 years of experience required.

Experience in scrubbing and assisting physicians in the performance of Neurovascular Interventions.

Education Requirements

High School/GED and Associates degree-Graduate of AMA-approved program for Diagnostic Radiology.

License/Certification Requirements

BLS certification from American Heart Association required, American Registry Radiology Tech license required, NJ Radiology Tech License required.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Proficient in multiple imaging, ultrasound, and neuro-navigation systems, such as Siemens, Sonosite, Power Injector, Brain Lab, Stealth, Fusion, Vision Sense, VTI.
  • Communication – Ability to communicate with patients, visitors, and coworkers.
Special Requirements

Full-time days, 36 hours a week.

4 10-hour shifts.

Hours: 6:30a-5p.

On-call rotation with 30-minute response time.

On-call pay.
