Phlebotomy Technician

Harrison County Hospital is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to perform blood specimen collection and laboratory testing.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and on-the-job training in a clinical laboratory setting. One year of experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect blood specimens from patients using skin punctures and capillary testing.
• Process test requisitions, charge, register, and order tests for outpatients.
• Distribute and file test results and physician orders.
• Communicate with patients, physicians, and nursing units via telephone.
• Maintain neat and organized collection trays, collection areas, and work areas.

Requirements:

• Ability to perform phlebotomy and capillary puncture procedures for patients of all ages.
• Ability to communicate patient preparation and procedure information to patients and their families.
• Ability to obtain and interpret information from patients necessary for appropriate patient care.
