Position Overview

Role: Apprentice Infant Toddler Teacher Assistant

Objective: Provide children with a strong foundation for future learning.

Job Summary:

The Early Educator Apprenticeship Program, in collaboration with CPCD and Pikes Peak State College, equips participants with essential skills and hands-on experience necessary for a career in early childhood education. This apprenticeship is competency-based, requiring a minimum commitment of one year (2,000 hours of On-the-Job Learning) and the achievement of 44 competencies, along with at least 199 hours of related instruction.

Apprentices will receive a structured wage increase based on the current hourly journey worker wage rate.

The Apprentice Teacher Assistant will support the lead teacher in planning and executing safe, nurturing, and high-quality educational experiences that foster the holistic development of children in collaboration with their families. Compliance with all organizational policies, performance standards, licensing requirements, and quality standards for early childhood education is essential. The role involves implementing a mix of group and individualized activities to enhance school readiness skills as outlined in the organization's School Readiness Action Plan.

Compensation Structure:

  • High School Diploma/Equivalent with relevant experience - $17.48/hour
  • Preschool CDA or Level II Credential - $19.18/hour
  • Colorado Director Qualification/PDIS Level 3 Credential - $20.15/hour
  • Colorado Director Qualification/PDIS Level 3 with 12 ECE credit hours - $21.15/hour
  • Associate Degree in ECE or Related Field - $22.20/hour (AA + 24 credit hours in ECE)

About the Organization:

Community Partnership for Child Development (CPCD) serves over 1,800 children from low-income backgrounds or those facing special challenges by providing early childhood education through various programs. Our additional health, dental, and family support services ensure that children are prepared for success in school and beyond.

Employee Benefits for Eligible Staff (25+ hours per week):

CPCD offers a comprehensive benefits package including:

  • Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays/breaks.

Tuition assistance is available after 90 days of employment:

Requirements:

Mandatory:

  • CDA or Early Childhood Professional Level II credential through Colorado's Professional Development Information System (PDIS), or a plan to obtain within two years of hire.
  • First Aid, CPR, and medication administration certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Reliable transportation is required for job functions.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination, TB test, drug test, and background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience working with children from birth to age five.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
