Job Summary

We're seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you'll be responsible for performing a variety of functions, including equipment installations, repairs, and modifications. You'll work on a range of tasks, from installing and maintaining plant buildings, machinery, and equipment to performing emergency and scheduled repairs. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, modify, and maintain plant buildings, machinery, and equipment, including mobile or road equipment and production machinery, in a good state of mechanical repair.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Prepare and set up machinery for scheduled production runs.
  • Perform mechanic skills, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Know and understand all safety rules and precautions necessary for working with and around hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical apparatus.
  • Perform duties assigned in the machine shop (i.e., tool & die) as directed.
  • Ability to work on highly technical or involved projects, presenting new or constantly changing problems.
  • Ability to deal with complex factors not easily evaluated and to make decisions based on conclusions and findings.
  • Install and repair a variety of electrical equipment, such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, and circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment. Work with blueprints, drawings, layouts, verbal instructions, and/or other specs.
  • Use all types of welding equipment, arc, acetylene, brazing, and flame cutting equipment. Capable of laying out and fitting up welding, making jugs and fixtures.
  • Use electricians' hand tools and measuring and testing equipment.
  • Diagnose and correct trouble in the electrical system or equipment, working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
  • Perform visual and mechanical inspections required to keep machinery in good condition to produce a finished quality product to order specifications.
  • Follow a preventive maintenance program as established by the company and perform inspections of equipment and take preventive action when necessary.
  • Maintain buildings, performing minor and major repairs.
  • Maintain continuous improvement efforts in the work area.
  • Comply with OSHA safety and health rules.
Requirements

  • High School Diploma or recognized equivalent.
  • Minimum of (2) Two years related work experience in a maintenance mechanic function, or equivalent related experience.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in resolving unexpected events and circumstances.
  • Hand and Power tools.
  • Shop Machine tools.
  • Testing equipment.
  • Ability to read different measuring devices (i.e., tape measure, protractor, micrometer).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist.
