Job Title: Speech Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Therapist to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Speech Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in customer satisfaction initiatives within the department and hospital.
  • Serve as a patient advocate to ensure that patients' needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Resolve patients' and customers' concerns immediately.
  • Maintain positive relationships with all customers, including patients, significant others, physicians, and associates.
  • Review patient satisfaction data and implement changes within the department.
Quality:
  • Provide quality care to patients.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of improved processes to achieve quality and superior patient care and service.
  • Effectively utilize treatment planning processes to deliver quality care.
  • Support and provide education to patients, families, and other healthcare team members.
People Growth:
  • Establish and achieve self-development objectives and continued advancement of the department.
  • Assess own learning needs, seek appropriate training and development, and set own objectives and goals.
  • Maintain and support Accrediting Organization requirements in regards to competencies.
Organizational Climate:
  • Participate in an environment that supports management philosophy, Trinity Hospital strategic plans, and Advocate Healthcare strategies.

  • Actively participate in unit meetings and provide positive suggestions for improvement of services.

  • Contribute to the department and hospital innovation efforts to maximize excellence and build respect for services.
  • Submit improvement ideas for Trinity Hospital and its services and participate in the implementation process as appropriate.
Productivity:
  • Participate in implementing improvements to practice productivity.
  • Cross-train to other unit functions as necessary to achieve optimal department flexibility.
  • Participate in collecting and analyzing department productivity data.
Economics:
  • Contribute to cost containment and business growth initiatives of the department.
  • Assist with staffing requirements by accurately communicating needs and patient acuity.
  • Responsible for efficient utilization of all resources within scope of practice.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Speech Pathology.
  • Masters Degree in Speech Pathology.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, assessment, and team-building skills.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Illinois License for Speech Therapy.

Working Conditions:

  • This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
  • Ability to work weekends.
  • Must be flexible in staffing needs due to census and acuity of patients.
  • Work hours vary according to unit needs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting 50 to 100 pounds occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds constantly.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.
