Job Summary

The Production Planner plays a crucial role in coordinating and managing the production process to ensure smooth and efficient manufacturing operations. This position involves developing and maintaining production schedules, managing inventory levels, and ensuring the availability of materials and resources as needed. The Production Planner collaborates closely with various departments, including procurement, production, and logistics, to align production objectives with company goals, reporting directly to the Planning Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assessing, releasing, and executing work orders, including bulk materials, bases, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods.
  • Communicating production plans to the production team, customer service, and management.
  • Maintaining accurate dates, quantities, and statuses in the ERP system.
  • Reviewing Material Requirements Planning (MRP) runs.
  • Managing orders to reduce inventory obsolescence.
  • Performing daily maintenance of assigned Planning Boards.
  • Adhering to Operating Work Instructions for Planning as directed by the Planning Manager.

Additional Responsibilities

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Finalizing the production plan and updating the Master Production Schedule Agreement for review.
  • Reviewing monthly Resource Capacity and Constraint Planning for assigned work centers to ensure supply chain support for program requirements.
  • Monitoring customer service commitments and prioritizing based on customer needs and production capabilities.
  • Analyzing key metrics such as Customer Service Level, Actual vs. Scheduled Productions, and Master Schedule Stability, and publishing findings.
  • Collaborating regularly with manufacturing personnel to balance demand and service commitments.
  • Identifying MPSA outages and reporting them weekly, then monthly during Supply Chain reviews.
  • Attending meetings and staying informed about issues related to manufacturing, planning, new product introductions, line fill rates, metrics, and other supply chain matters.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field, with a minimum of 3+ years of experience in manufacturing shop floor planning. Proficiency with ERP systems and basic understanding of supply chain processes are also required. Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal and customer service abilities, strong organizational skills and attention to detail, and proven time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines are essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities are also necessary.
