We are currently seeking a dedicated full-time Registered Nurse for our Preoperative and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). At United Surgical Partners International, we are committed to delivering exceptional healthcare services in a supportive and patient-centered environment.

Position Overview:
The PreOp/PACU RN is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care through the application of the nursing process, adherence to medical protocols, and compliance with organizational policies. This role involves delivering safe, effective, and patient-family focused care in the perioperative setting for diverse patient populations.

Preoperative Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate the admission process for patients entering the preoperative area.
  • Conduct thorough health assessments to ensure accurate patient identification.
  • Verify that all necessary operative and informed consents are completed.
  • Identify the surgical procedure and the attending surgeon.
  • Record and monitor vital signs to confirm patient readiness for surgery.
  • Initiate intravenous access and provide clear information regarding the procedure and care team.

PACU Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate patients' conditions post-surgery to ensure stability.
  • Monitor vital signs and document findings accurately.
  • Address patient inquiries and maintain comfort during recovery.
  • Oversee intravenous therapy and ensure all lines are functioning properly.
  • Create personalized care plans tailored to each patient's needs.
  • Ensure compliance with individual care plans during nursing interventions.
  • Monitor for any changes in patient conditions and communicate with physicians as necessary.
  • Implement educational programs for patients and families regarding procedures and medications.
  • Assess readiness for patient transfer to recovery rooms.
  • Respond to post-operative emergencies with appropriate interventions.
  • Document sedation levels and monitor body temperature.
  • Manage blood and fluid transfusions, as well as specimen collection.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the recovery area.
  • Change dressings and care for surgical wounds.

Qualifications:
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the state.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in PreOp/PACU or Critical Care settings.
  • Preferred experience in an ambulatory surgical center.
  • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
  • Strong understanding of surgical procedures and patient management.
  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques and their application.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing patient conditions.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills with staff, patients, and physicians.
