Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nursing Support Specialist to join our team at WellSpan Health. As a key member of our nursing support team, you will provide clinical support services to patient care staff, ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide general nursing care and personal care assistance to patients, including activities of daily living and the removal of peripheral IVs and indwelling urinary catheter.
  • Monitor patient condition levels; recognize and report changes in patient condition to the registered nurse.
  • Perform purposeful hourly rounds to identify and address patient needs.
  • Obtain and electronically document patient vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, weight, respiration, and pulse.
  • Train and precept new employees.
  • Perform Point-of-Care testing, including blood glucose, hemocult, and specific gravity testing.
  • Prepare patients for tests, procedures, etc., and transport patients to tests, procedures, and different levels of care.
  • Collect specimens as directed using appropriate or specified equipment for collecting and handling specimens.
  • Perform EKGs and transmit studies.
  • Obtain and remove equipment and supplies necessary for patient care.
  • Maintain and store equipment appropriately and complete electronic requests for equipment repairs.
  • Maintain par levels of supplies and equipment on assigned unit(s) and notify supervisor when reorder points are reached.
  • Responsible for stocking patient rooms, nursing areas, supply carts, etc., with appropriate items at required levels.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Less than 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Basic Life Support certification required upon hire.
  • Certified Nurse Aide certification preferred upon hire.
