About Avalon Healthcare Solutions:
Avalon Healthcare Solutions, based in Tampa, Florida, is a pioneering Lab Insights organization. We integrate our proven Lab Benefit Management solutions with lab science expertise, digitized lab values, and proprietary analytics to assist healthcare insurers in proactively guiding appropriate care, minimizing costs, and enhancing clinical outcomes.
We collaborate with health plans nationwide, covering over 36 million lives and achieving 7-12% savings on outpatient lab benefits.
Avalon is at the forefront of a new era in value-driven care through our Lab Insights Platform, which captures, digitizes, and analyzes lab results in real-time. This provides actionable insights for earlier disease detection, ensures adherence to treatment protocols, and reduces overall costs.
Research indicates that 30% of clinical laboratory testing is either unnecessary or excessive. Inappropriate testing or overlooking essential screenings can lead to complications and increased expenses from unwarranted care, or failing to receive necessary care, which heightens health risks and costs.
Avalon is dedicated to delivering the right test at the right time and in the right environment. Our goal is to ensure the most effective patient treatment, improve clinical outcomes, and optimize affordability.
Position Overview:
The Research Scientist I will be an integral part of the scientific policy development team, reporting directly to the Manager of Laboratory Policy.
As a member of the Laboratory Policy Team, the Research Scientist I will contribute to redefining how health plans, physicians, and laboratories coordinate laboratory care for millions of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough research and summarize evidence-based scientific literature.
- Draft responses to scientific inquiries from clients.
- Create new policies and revise existing Avalon scientific laboratory policies.
- Assist in client policy reconciliation as directed by the Manager of Laboratory Policy.
- Format and update relevant documents.
- Maintain and organize multiple forms and electronic documents.
- Track all policy changes using various spreadsheets and trackers.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective communication regarding policy updates.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager of Laboratory Policy.
