Heavy Equipment Technician

We are seeking safety-minded individuals who are well-qualified in the field of heavy diesel equipment maintenance, with excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work in small groups or individually. As a member of the team, you must be able to communicate clearly, have strong organizational skills, perform basic troubleshooting and repairs on heavy and light mobile equipment, perform your duties safely and efficiently, maintain a safe and clean work area, and possess the basic hand tools for the job.
Key Responsibilities:- Diagnose and repair defective mobile equipment and mechanical/hydraulic equipment using hand tools, power tools, precision measuring and testing equipment.
- Troubleshoot, repair, install, and service compressors and other process equipment.
- Perform inspection, installation, and alignment of equipment and problem-solve equipment failures.
- Proficient knowledge of environmental practices eliminating unsafe conditions.
- Thorough knowledge of the company's safety policies, Process Code System, and Internal Combustion System.
- Repair/replace and fabricate parts for wear items as required.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment using knowledge of vibration analysis, oil analysis, and thermography.
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, calibration, and measuring tools to complete job tasks.
- Read machine drawings, blueprints, pipe diagrams, and flow sheets.
- Lubricate and clean parts.
- Perform welding repairs as needed using arc, wire, tig, and gas welds.
- Use cutting torches to cut and layout basic designs.
- Perform accurate and timely data entry on all services performed.
- Perform in-depth skills-wire rope applications and reaving.
- Use and repair overhead crane and lifting apparatus.
- Initiate purchase orders for parts.
- Follow all safety rules and policies, immediately reporting any accident/incident, and assist in generating solutions to resolve issues.
- Assist in training of co-workers as needed.
- Assist with general clean-up of work area.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Read, write, and communicate in English.
- Proficient in personal computer.
- People leadership skills and ability to lead by example. Implements and promotes company policies.
- Ability to perform well in a 'TEAM' environment.
- Ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing/walking, balance, bend from trunk, operate mobile equipment, crawl, kneel, push, and pull objects.
- Lift objects of various dimensions and weights.
- Ability to operate hand controls with both hands.
- Ability to perform work while lying on the back.
- Ability to perform sustained overhead reaching on an occasional basis.
- Ability to operate various size hand tools.
- Ability to tolerate working in cramped quarters and at heights.
- Ability to tolerate swing shift work schedule.
- Ability to work with greases and oils used to maintain equipment.
- Ability to tolerate work in all outdoor environmental conditions.
- Ability to work in high noise areas where noise levels can reach 120 decibels.
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures from 0° F to 120° F.
