Nuclear Medicine Technical Coordinator Job Description

At Stanford Health Care, we are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technical Coordinator to join our medical imaging department. This critical role requires a strong understanding of nuclear medicine procedures and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate all nuclear medicine tests and procedures efficiently and effectively.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of quality control and assurance procedures.
  • Train staff in appropriate procedures and protocols related to nuclear medicine.
  • Adhere to, enforce, and educate about safety rules and regulations regarding radiation.
  • Regularly inspect equipment to ascertain functionality and ensure regular maintenance.
  • Coordinate with doctors, medical professionals, and patients effectively.
  • Assist in patient scheduling and procedural prioritization.
  • Prepare patients for exams by explaining procedures, confirming patient ID, and checking correctness of the order.
  • Participate and lead improvement projects.
  • Compile statistical and QA data as needed.
  • Manage supply inventory relevant to nuclear medicine department operations.
  • Prepare room and equipment, troubleshoot equipment failures, and report problems to the appropriate individual.
  • Participate in orientation and training of assigned staff, students, residents, and faculty.
  • Produce quality images following established departmental and QA protocols to include technique, views, position, proper labeling and patient ID.
  • Report problems concerning staffing requirements, work methods, staff morale etc., and recommend solutions as appropriate to supervisor.
Requirements:
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support.
  • NMT-RHN - CA Nuclear Medicine Tech.
