The Medical Physics Assistant - Quality Assurance Specialist performs tasks in support of the Medical Physicists in the Department of Radiation Oncology. This includes conducting quality assurance measurements of linear accelerators, brachytherapy equipment, as well as (non)radiation emitting imaging systems in Radiation Oncology. Work conducted by the Medical Physics Assistant - Quality Assurance Specialist will be under the supervision of a qualified medical physicist.
Key Responsibilities- Interacts with colleagues, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
- Under the supervision of a qualified medical physicist, performs clinical quality assurance (QA) measurements, including patient-specific QA.
- Under the supervision of a qualified medical physicist maintains and uses standard dosimetry equipment such as ionization chambers, water tanks, and various quality assurance devices.
- Under the supervision of the medical physicist, assists with brachytherapy procedures.
- Plays an active role in improving the existing quality control program and supports clinical physics tasks through data collection, troubleshooting, and investigative research.
- Applies knowledge of radiation safety principles to assist physicians and physicists with brachytherapy seed implant procedures.
- Is available to work evenings/nights and occasionally on weekends.
- Bachelor's degree in physics, engineering, math, science, or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree in physics, engineering, math, science, or equivalent.
- Technical undergraduate degree background. No specific knowledge, skills, or abilities are required for this entry-level position.
Covid vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jefferson's clinical entities or at the University.
