Job Summary:
The Patient Care Technician plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care at Children's Health. This position assists the nurse and respiratory therapist in providing care to patients from zero to 18 years old, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment. Key responsibilities include preparing patient rooms, performing basic patient care tasks, and documenting intake/output. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:
  • Prepare patient rooms with necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Perform basic patient care tasks, including vital signs, positioning, and ambulation.
  • Document intake/output and other delegated tasks by the registered nurse.
  • Respond to patient and family needs, problem-solve, and maintain a safe patient environment.
  • Transport stable patients to procedures or testing within the hospital.
  • Assist in emergency situations, including initiating BLS and participating as a runner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a certified nurse assistant training, basic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Paramedic, or Medical Assistant program.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification.
  • 1 year of experience as a CNA, EMT, or Medical Assistant (preferred).
  • Field experience as a paramedic or EMT (preferred for ED and ICU positions).
