Job Summary

As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will administer speech and language evaluations, tests, or examinations to diagnose and plan treatments for clients/patients/residents with various speech problems and swallowing disorders.

You will assess clients/patients/residents with various speech, language, cognitive, or swallowing problems and develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical diagnoses.

Provide speech and language services to clients/patients/residents; monitor disease progression and adjust treatments accordingly.

Instruct clients/patients/residents in practicing speech and language therapeutic exercises; provide consultation for clients/patients/residents working through speech and language treatment processes.

Ensure all speech and language related standards, policies, protocols, and quality requirements are met.

This role may involve treating individuals of all ages with varying diagnoses and disorders.

Documentation will be in accordance with departmental guidelines and meet all regulatory requirements.

Exhibit flexibility with acceptance of variable work schedules/assignments.

Participate in activities to promote the department, Good Samaritan Society, and Sanford Health.

Interact with individuals outside of the department, including providers, case managers, third-party payers, public organizations, etc.

May be asked to supervise assistants, aides, and students as they provide client/patient/resident care, treatment, or other services.

Provide ongoing education and training to peers in the area(s) of expertise as determined by the department leadership.

Perform other related duties as requested by manager.

This role may focus on those receiving intervention in the post-acute, long-term care, and home health care environments when applicable.

Qualifications include an appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure, licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist, and a Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) or currently working on Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
