Position Overview:


SWCA Environmental Consultants is on the lookout for a Senior Environmental Biologist with a strong background in ecological management and biological research to join our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute scientific research initiatives.
- Lead ecological surveys and assessments.
- Engage in natural resource planning and project oversight.
- Mentor junior staff and conduct technical evaluations of reports.

Travel, including overnight assignments, will be a component of this role, and flexibility in work hours may be necessary to accommodate fieldwork across various regions.

The Senior Environmental Biologist will have the chance to participate in SWCA's scientific leadership program, recognizing and rewarding top experts for their significant contributions and intellectual capabilities, while also influencing corporate strategies.

What You Will Achieve:
- Collaborate with project teams to develop innovative resource assessment strategies that align with client requirements and withstand scrutiny from regulatory bodies.
- Proactively address challenges to ensure client satisfaction.
- Coordinate and lead biological survey initiatives.
- Serve as project manager or technical lead on diverse biological resource projects.
- Utilize GPS technology and various mapping tools during field operations.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
- Collaborate with SWCA's resource scientists and planners on environmental projects.

Qualifications for Success:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, or a related discipline is required; a master’s degree is highly preferred.
- At least three years of progressively responsible experience in biological surveys and resource management within public or private sectors.
- Experience collaborating with scientists, planners, engineers, contractors, and regulatory specialists.
- Proven ability to promote SWCA's services both internally and externally.
- Experience managing subcontractors and ensuring technical excellence.
- Proficient in drafting technical reports.

The ideal candidate will also demonstrate strong skills in wildlife and/or plant identification, familiarity with the Endangered Species Act, excellent writing abilities, and the capacity to maintain accurate field notes. A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team are essential.
