Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at McClure Engineering. As a Mechanical Engineer - Advancing, you will be responsible for performing engineering functions required for projects, including field investigation, load calculations, equipment selection, and system diagrams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform necessary engineering functions required for projects, including field investigation, load calculations, equipment selection, and system diagrams.
  • Collaborate with designers, drafters, and engineers to produce construction documents.
  • Solve problems of a complex nature, with oversight from a more experienced Engineer, in both the design and construction phases of a project.
  • Assist construction progress through shop drawing review, responding to request for information (RFIs), and performing inspections of construction progress.
  • Effectively coordinate with internal and external members of the design team, including firm staff, owners, architects, and other consultants.
Requirements
  • B.S.M.E. from an accredited university or equivalent experience required.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred.
  • 2-5 years of relevant mechanical engineering design experience with a preferred focus on HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial, institutional, and/or healthcare facilities.
  • Experience selecting equipment and troubleshooting systems preferred.
  • Institutional/Commercial building design experience required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office - specifically Excel, OneNote, Outlook, and Word.
  • Proven ability to read and understand both 2D and 3D drawings.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Work environment is primarily indoors at firm's facility, with approximately 10% of time spent indoors/outdoors at project or construction sites where hard-hat and other safety gear is often required. (PPE is provided by firm.)

While performing field work associated with this position, employee will be required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and carry and/or climb ladders of varying heights. The employee may lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
