Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Keystone Ancient Forest Park Maintenance Specialist is accountable for ensuring the aesthetic appeal and cleanliness of the park and its facilities. This role encompasses customer engagement, upkeep, and support for volunteers and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the opening and closing of facilities during operational hours.
  • Welcome guests and provide necessary information.
  • Ensure the visitor center and surrounding areas are well-maintained.
  • Support trail maintenance initiatives and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Apply conservation methods and strategies effectively.
  • Assist the Visitor Center Coordinator with clerical tasks, including organizing volunteer efforts and maintaining records.
  • Guide, train, and work alongside volunteers, educators, community groups, and the public.
  • Conduct cleaning duties before and after daily visits, park events, and community activities.
  • Under the supervision of the Project Manager, perform grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, digging, clearing debris, seeding, and fertilizing to ensure public safety and preserve the park's natural environment.
  • Carry out additional tasks as needed, including support for other departments.

Essential Qualifications & Knowledge:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License.
  • Minimum of six months experience in customer service.
  • Experience in trail development and maintenance is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain Service Technician Certification.
  • Familiarity with applicable city, state, and federal regulations and policies.
  • Understanding of Parks and Recreation guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Parks and Recreation equipment and facilities.
  • Enforcement of curfew regulations.
  • Familiarity with various forestry and landscaping tools.
  • Ability to identify potential trail hazards.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Assist with prescribed burns.
  • Manage the removal of invasive plant and animal species.
  • Perform minor maintenance on equipment.
  • Plan, promote, set up, and dismantle special events.
  • Proficient in operating computers and modern office equipment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Capability to perform routine maintenance tasks.
