The Student Loan Officer plays a crucial role in supporting students and their families in navigating financial aid options. Under the supervision of the Director of Student Financial Services, this position involves providing expert financial aid guidance and performing essential administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver outstanding customer service in all interactions.
- Offer comprehensive advice and support to students and their families regarding financial aid.
- Manage and process alternative and personal loan applications.
- Facilitate the return of Title IV funding as necessary.
- Assist with FAFSA verification processes.
- Oversee the Parent PLUS loan process, including assistance to families, loan awarding, and reconciliation.
- Coordinate the Federal Direct Loan process effectively.
- Stay informed on changes in financial aid policies and ensure compliance through monitoring and auditing of student files.
- Maintain compliance with FERPA regulations.
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree along with relevant experience and specialized training.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in financial aid, higher education, or related fields is preferred.
- Specific skills will be developed through on-the-job training.
