Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Optical Sensing Hardware Engineer to join our team at Apple. As a key member of our optical sensing team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and launching next-generation light-sensing technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop optical sensors, including building simulations and models, and verifying their performance.
  • Interface optical sensors with mixed signal electronic circuits and develop test and metrology strategies for manufacturing optical sensors.
  • Establish design verification goals and instrumentation requirements, and develop and execute detailed characterization plans.
  • Support verification of production test via electrical and optical design reviews and lab correlation measurements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver state-of-the-art sensing solutions.
Requirements
  • Strong background in optics, electrical engineering, and optical sensor/system design.
  • Expertise in optical sensor development, including concept design, hardware prototyping, signal processing, and design verification.
  • Experience with optical modeling tools such as Zemax, LightTools, and FDTD.
  • Knowledge of electrical and optical test and metrology equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and solid teamwork and leadership skills.
  • BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant proven experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting volume manufacturing of optical systems.
