Job Summary

As a Laboratory Coordinator at Georgia Southern University, you will oversee the daily operation of laboratory facilities, ensuring a safe and functional environment for teaching and research. This role requires strong organizational and human relations skills, with the ability to support various constituencies served by the University.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and execution of biology laboratory and field exercises, ensuring a high-quality learning experience for students.
  • Purchase laboratory supplies and equipment, managing budgets for lab classes and maintaining inventory.
  • Train and supervise student assistants, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Maintain annual review of laboratory prep notes, ensuring compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Develop and/or update and enforce laboratory regulations, ensuring a safe and functional laboratory environment.
  • Maintain safety protocols for all teaching and research laboratories in the department, adhering to University policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, such as biology, chemistry, or a related field.

Required Experience

  • Two (2) or more years of related work experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in a higher education institution.

Proposed Salary

$22.36 - $29.03 per hour, commensurate with experience.
