Overview:

The Manheim Township is seeking an experienced and dynamic HR Generalist to join their team. This role is responsible for various aspects of human resources, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, and employee relations.


Job Description:

This position involves facilitating the hiring process, creating job postings, screening resumes, and scheduling interviews. The successful candidate will also be responsible for conducting background and reference checks, administering employee onboarding, and organizing orientation meetings.


Essential Functions:
  • Facilitate the hiring process for qualified job applicants, collaborating with departmental managers to understand required skills and competencies.
  • Create job postings, screen resumes, and schedule interviews within the Applicant Tracking System and with outside applicants when necessary.
  • Assemble and present employment offers, manage employee onboarding processes, and serve as an advisor to hiring managers.
  • Conduct or acquire background and reference checks, and employee eligibility verifications to review and approve for employee processing.
  • Organize and administer orientation meetings with new employees.
  • Administer and process health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations of group insurance, STD/LTD, and life insurance coverages.
  • Support the administration of retirement plans, including information and database management using online services.
  • Perform routine tasks required to execute human resource programs, including compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes, performance, and training.
  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of Employee Training Initiatives.
  • Maintain personnel, benefits, and other required files within the Township HRIS platform.
  • Responsible for some aspects of payroll processing, maintaining the HRIS, responding to inquiries, and ensuring compliance.
  • Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
  • Develop HR policies and standard operating procedures (SOP's) in line with the Township's objectives and goals.
  • Manage the employee lifecycle, including employee relations, performance management, worker's compensation, and other Human Resources functions in collaboration with HR Professionals.
  • Complete First Report of Injury reports for Worker's Compensation claims using phone and online technology.
  • Complete reporting requirements as requested from the HRIS system.
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices, reviewing policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field (required).
  • 2 years of progressive Human Resources experience in a Generalist role (required) OR Equivalent combination of education and experience (required).
  • 2 years of payroll processing experience (preferred).
  • SHRM-CP a plus (preferred).

Salary:

$65,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
