Job Summary:

Las Palmas Medical Center is seeking a skilled CT Technician II Reg to join our team. As a CT Technician, you will operate Cat Scan equipment, position patients to produce diagnostic radiographs, and perform related duties under general supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate C.T. equipment to make radiographic scans of designated portions of the body, adjusting equipment and patient positioning as needed.
  • Perform reconstruction and special processing of data, evaluating completed radiographs/scans for positioning, technique, and adequacy of examination.
  • Closely observe patients, perform first aid as necessary, and confer with physicians when requested exams appear at odds with the patient's condition.
  • Perform a variety of clerical tasks, including pulling jackets, inputting/editing exams, and completing requisitions prior to setting films to be read.
  • Record and maintain data on magnetic disc, tape, PACS, and logs, ensuring correct identification of film, including side and radiological factors.
  • Demonstrate Customer Service/Service Plus principles and behaviors appropriately.
  • Arrange, attach, or adjust immobilization and supportive devices to obtain precise position, prevent motion, and aid in patient comfort.
  • Keep current regarding developments in trends and techniques of diagnostic Cat Scan by reading technical journals, participating in in-service education programs, and attending conferences.
  • Practice sterile techniques and prevent cross contamination, maintaining orderliness and cleanliness, including provision for the contamination-free condition of rooms, equipment, and personnel.
  • Adhere to prescribed standards of Radiation Safety, participating in the Quality Improvement and safety programs.
  • Ensure appropriate recording of hours worked, adhering to hospital policy.

Requirements:

  • ARRT (R) certification
  • ARRT (CT) certification
  • Texas Medical Board certification as Medical Radiologic Technologist
  • Current BCLS certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in X-ray/CT
  • Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, positioning, radiographic techniques, and radiation protection concepts and techniques.
  • Knowledge of radiographic physics, medical terminology, and ability to determine exposure factors to achieve optimum radiographic images with a minimum exposure to patients.
  • Ability to examine radiographs for the purpose of evaluation techniques, positions, and other related qualities.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment with patients during radiographic procedures.
  • Skill in safe and efficient operation of Cat Scan equipment.
