Work Schedule: Per Diem / One (1) Weekend per Month

Position Objective: Responsible for the accurate dispensing of medications and the monitoring of patient drug therapies in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. This role encompasses a variety of tasks including medication order preparation, prescription dispensing, compounding, patient medication therapy monitoring, patient counseling, documentation of interventions, provision of drug information, and oversight of support staff.

Our pharmacy department consists of over 60 dedicated professionals committed to the health of our population. We are currently focused on optimizing and integrating our pharmacy services, which include: Inpatient care, Emergency Department pharmacist direct patient care, Care Transitions, outpatient and specialty pharmacy drug distribution, and various clinical models. Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute a variety of functions in the outpatient pharmacy setting, including preparation and dispensing of prescriptions, compounding, patient therapy monitoring, patient counseling, documentation, and supervision of support staff.
  • Provide consultation to patients, families, and healthcare professionals, ensuring exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Engage with third-party payers to verify eligibility and secure prior authorizations.
  • Assist in inventory management and purchasing activities.
  • Ensure the prescription area is organized and sanitary, inspecting for outdated medications and proper storage.
  • In the absence of a pharmacy supervisor or manager, assume essential responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with at least a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
  • Licensure: Must hold a current license in the State of Arizona.
  • Experience: Previous experience as a pharmacist in a retail setting is preferred.
Work Requirements: Ability to distinguish colors, with physical demands including sitting, standing, and walking for varying durations. Potential exposure to blood, body fluids, or hazardous substances may occur in this role.
