Job Title: Nurse Practitioner - Psychiatry

Job Summary:

The New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports is seeking a Nurse Practitioner - Psychiatry to join our team at the South Beach Addiction Treatment Center. As a key member of our treatment team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive services.

Responsibilities:
  • Examine patients to determine the nature of the psychiatric complaint and the treatment to be prescribed;
  • Author medication orders and clarify orders when required with nursing;
  • Review preadmission psychiatric information to determine psychiatric appropriateness prior to admission;
  • Establish the admitting diagnoses and final diagnoses upon discharge;
  • Conduct psychiatric examinations, assessments, and consultations;
  • Respond to psychiatric emergencies;
  • Assess and treat patients with co-occurring disorders;
  • Function as a member of the treatment team;
  • Provide educational lectures/groups to patients and/or staff;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Certification and current registration as a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry by the New York State Education Department;
  • Eligibility and maintenance of eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs;
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Working Conditions:

The South Beach Addiction Treatment Center is a tobacco-free facility. The incumbent will work in a fast-paced environment and must be able to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
